P.I.E Industrial Berhad ("PIB" or "the Company") had commenced its planned precautionary COVID-19 testing of all foreign and local employees of its wholly-owned subsidiary,Pan-International Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“PIE”). The screening test was conducted on 23 March 2021 at PIE's factories.

Some of the employees of PIE in two facilities have been tested positive for COVID-19 during the planned screening test. The affected employees are currently receiving appropriate treatment at designated Government facilities as directed by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (“KKM”) and all primary contacts of the affected employees have been identified.

As an immediate response to protect the health and safety of the workforce and the community at large, PIE has temporarily closed the factories from 23 March 2021 until 2 April 2021. The Management of PIE is undertaking thorough disinfection and sanitisation procedures on the affected production factories as per the guidelines provided by KKM. In addition, the Company has notified all employees as well as PIE’s suppliers and customers about the confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The Company will continue to adhere strictly to COVID-19 preventive standard operating procedures issued by the relevant authorities from time to time and work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the health and safety of all its employees. The Company is confident that any backlogs due to the shutdown will be resolved promptly upon resuming operations. The temporary closure of the factories will not have any material impact on the Group’s revenue and earnings for the financial year ending 31 December 2021.
